Where We Started
With a desire to form a fellowship based on God’s word and gospel truth, a group of believers organized a Conservative Baptist church plant on March 15, 1961. Within a year, the church was able to purchase a facility from a former Presbyterian church located at Fourth and Grant. The church was called Grace Baptist Church until 1984, when the church adopted an elder form of government, some philosophical changes, and changed its name to Grace Community Church to signify a new era. In 2003, the church, having outgrown its facility, began meeting across the street at Bill Reed Middle School while planning to build a new facility. A fourteen acre piece of land had been purchased, but the infrastructure costs involved caused the church to look for an already existing building.
Where We Are
In 2011, a former lumber yard and hardware store, Collins Cashway, became available for purchase, and with overwhelming unity and constant blessings from God, the remodeled building became the home of Grace Community Church. God’s faithfulness to our fellowship has been a constant in the life of Grace, providing growth and resources to meet many community needs. One of those was the donation of our 14 acres for an affordable housing initiative which includes Habitat for Humanity homes, rent adjusted apartments, and low income housing. This new neighborhood, only a few blocks from our location, will be called Grace Gardens. It is our vision to minister to this neighborhood for the glory of God, and strive to be as true and faithful to Him as He has to us in the sixty years of our existence.
Gary Glover
Pastor Emeritus
Pastor Gary served as Grace’s Senior Pastor from 1999-2022. He grew up in the Loveland community and attended public schools in Loveland. Immediately after college, he was hired at Loveland High School as an English teacher and gymnastics coach. For 28 years Gary taught, coached and attended Grace Community Church as a lay leader. In 1990, He was hired as a youth pastor and still served as an elder at the church, occasionally filling in as pulpit supply and as interim leader between pastors. As Gary neared retirement, he felt the Lord’s call into full time ministry not knowing it would be in his home church. When the pastor resigned in 1999, the church asked Gary to step in.
Gary served as Pastor part-time continuing to teach and coach at Loveland High. After retirement, Gary became the full time pastor. As under-shepherd of Jesus, Gary led Grace through growth, discipleship, and community impact. Gary and his wife Kara, have two grown children and 2 granddaughters. They have served the Loveland community faithfully beyond the walls of Grace Community Church, bearing witness to the Gospel through all they encounter. In 2022 Gary retired from Grace Community Church as he and Kara answered the Lord’s call to Nashville to be near their children and grandchildren.
