November 2024 Youth Newsletter
We've got a somewhat quieter month, but with an opportunity to serve, and our annual Youth Famine!
Matthew 25:34-40
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
November means our annual Youth Famine, and this year we've got a chance to not only raise money for our compassion child, but also contribute non-perishable food items for House of Neighborly Services food drive! For a complete list of needed items click HERE
For the famine itself we'll meet at the church at 6pm Friday night, stay overnight and through Saturday, fasting together with some activities and lessons, and finally end at 6pm Saturday evening after we've had a chance to break our fast with dinner. Head on over to the sign up page for more info or feel free to email Jonathan with questions!
We are helping with some end of the year maintenance with leaf raking and some light landscaping on Saturday, November 9th, from 9:30am-1:00pm. Lunch will be provided, but students should plan on wearing layers with the cooler temps, and should bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
We also have an opportunity for pen turning on the 9th in the afternoon for those who are interested. This is a chance to learn how to turn a pen on a lathe, to make your own hand made ink pen, and work with your hands. If you are interested in that please email Jonathan for specifics.
Finally, we are working towards launching/implementing more grace youth functionality in our Grace Church App, including more student interaction (communication, voting/polls, interaction, etc.) and parent info/engagement (schedule/sign-up info and links, weather cancellation notifications, event media, etc.) so be on the lookout for more information and links as we roll some of that out before the end of the year.
